The Odette — Art Deco Bird’s-Eye Maple Dresser

Walnut gets a lot of attention, but then there’s bird’s-eye maple…

Odette is a petite Art Deco dresser with the most wonderful bird’s-eye maple veneer. Once stripped of its old yellowed finish, that beautiful spotted, almost shimmering grain could finally take center stage again.

The maple is paired with a deep blue-green frame and fine gold detailing. A delicate nine-ray sunburst travels across the curved upper drawer and onto the top — a little Art Deco drama without hiding the wood underneath.

The original decorative metal handles have been cleaned and kept, complete with their aged character. Open the drawers and there’s one more detail: a subtle champagne wallpaper with its own fan-like Art Deco pattern.

At the back, the original mirror supports are still in place. The mirror has disappeared somewhere along Odette’s journey, but a new one could be added if desired.

Restored, refinished and completely one of a kind.
