This Art Deco dressing table had good bones, but it was hiding under a thick glossy finish that completely muddied the walnut grain. Once that came off, the wood finally got to do what it wanted to do all along — and it turns out it’s rather gorgeous.
There’s a lovely little detail in the small side drawers: the veneer runs horizontally on the top part and vertically on the rest of the drawer. One of those subtle design touches that you only notice after looking twice.
The sculptural curves were finished in Midnight Blue, while the walnut veneer was brought back to life with Osmo hardwax oil so the grain really pops.
The curved drawer got a small Art Deco fan pattern — because a little glamour never hurt anyone. Open the drawers and there’s another surprise: Art Deco wallpaper lining the interiors, and soft felt in the small curved drawer for jewelry or other delicate things.
The original mirror is included and can be easily mounted or removed, depending on how you’d like to use the piece. The original hardware stayed right where it was. It suits the piece perfectly and frankly didn’t need improving.
A piece like this works beautifully as a dressing table, but it would also be just as happy in a hallway or bedroom quietly stealing attention.
